Cold Frame — White Oak

$179.00
The same 4'x2' cold frame design built from white oak instead of cedar, with a hinged 4mm twin-wall polycarbonate lid angled for rain runoff and solar gain. White oak is heavier than cedar — roughly 30 percent more — which gives this version additional wind resistance and stability without staking or anchoring. The closed grain structure of white oak makes it exceptionally resistant to water penetration, which matters for a structure that sits directly on soil through freeze-thaw cycles and constant precipitation. Over time, the white oak weathers to a silver-gray patina that blends with stone, gravel, and other natural hardscaping. The same three-position prop arm for ventilation, the same shatter-resistant polycarbonate glazing. This is the version for gardeners who want a cold frame that will still be working in 15 years, or who prefer the heavier, more substantial feel of a hardwood frame.
